Alaskan Arctic Expeditions As an expedition musher on Alaska's arctic slope, I spend the better portion of my dark, frigid winter traveling alone with my team across some of the most remote and unforgiving terrain imaginable. For many years, I did this with no source of communication with civilization. If I had ever found myself in a life-threatening situation, there would be no way to call for help. Traveler Always takes Iridium Equipment I've been using Iridium products and services since 2001. Since this time, I have taken numerous vacations and each time I ensure that my Iridium equipment goes with me on every trip. My vacations have included trips to the Arctic region-Greenland, Svalbard and on cruises in the Arctic Sea. Regardless of how cold the conditions are, I always have a good, strong connection which enables me to stay in contact with my family and friends with trip updates. The call connection has always had great clarity and I have never experienced any noticeable delays. I think that it's fantastic to be able to call anyone from a ship and tell them that I'm only a few kilometers from the North Pole!! Motorhome Engine Troubles I was traveling with my motorhome in the Yukon Territory northern Canada. My engine threw a rod and I was in the middle of nowhere. I simply called a tow truck to come and get me and the repair shop to get another engine. Then I sat back and watched a movie, I sure am happy I had my Iridium phone.
